Glass is also beginning to become favored materials used in floors. Although more commonly seen in luxury hotels, some high-end houses are starting to include this particular floor design in their architecture. More often than not, glass staircases are used in conjunction with this particular type of floor material, which is also a wonderful alternative to steel staircases. However, in order to truly maximise the lighting effects, they would be best fitted under a skylight roofing. There are of course some people who doubt the functionality and usability of glass floors and glass staircases, with durability being the main reason. As such, designers and contractors would only use safety glass or highly durable tempered glass in this endeavour, fitted with sturdy and reliable beams to hold the weight of the person walking above them. Installing glass balustrades (which are also used in balconies and verandas) will also help to enhance the look of glass staircases.
