One of the most common problems that many homeowners have with wooden furniture is pest infestation like having your wooden doors being attacked by termites for instance. This issue is pretty common with wooden furniture that is placed outside the house like in the patio or garden for instance. Sometimes, these pests also make their homes on wooden structures outside the home like the wooden planks used on the patio floors or even in the wooden frames of sash windows or operable skylights. However, indoor furniture also suffer from the same problems, especially if the wood used for the furniture hasn’t been clean properly and treated with anti-pest solutions prior to making or manufacturing them.
When it comes to indoor furniture, a common problem with wood furniture is bed bugs. These bugs thrive in the wood itself as well as on the cushions and linens. These bed bugs, although not fatal, can cause severe inconvenience to the homeowner and anyone else who makes use of the infested furniture. Even if only one piece of wooden furniture is infested, these bugs can be transferred to another furniture as they stick to a person’s clothes and be transported to where the person goes. With steel furniture though, pest infestations and bed bugs are less of a concern, mainly because these don’t thrive on metals. They can find a haven on the cushions used on the steel furniture, but never on the metal frames as they have nowhere to burrow or hide.
